I. Application Requirements and Enrollment Categories
Scholarships for Confucius Institutes are available to non-Chinese nationals who are physically and mentally healthy, of good character and good academic standing, and who aspire to be engaged in Chinese language teaching and the international promotion of the Chinese language, and who are between 18 and 35 years of age (based on September 1, 2018, as a unified figure). In-service Chinese language teachers are relaxed to 45 years old. Applicants for undergraduate scholarships are generally no older than 25 years old.
1. Master's Degree in International Chinese Language Education
September 2018 Entrance. The funding period is 2 years. Applicants are required to have a bachelor's degree and score 210 points in HSK (Level 5) and 60 points in HSKK (Intermediate) in Chinese language examination. Preference will be given to those who provide work agreements or relevant certificates from the organizations where they intend to teach after graduation.
2. Bachelor's degree in Chinese International Education
September 2018 enrollment. The period of financial support is 4 years. Applicants are required to have a high school diploma and score 210 points in HSK (Level 4) and 60 points in HSKK (Intermediate) in the Chinese language examination.
3. One academic year trainee
September 2018 enrollment. The period of financial support is 11 months. No international students in China will be admitted.
3.1 Chinese Language International Education
Achieve 270 points in HSK (Level 3) and 60 points in HSKK (Elementary) in the Chinese language test.
3.2 Chinese Language and Literature, Chinese History, Chinese Philosophy
Achieve 180 points in HSK (Level 4) and 60 points in HSKK (Elementary) in Chinese language examination.
3.3Chinese Language Training
Achieve 180 points in HSK (Level 3).
4 One semester trainee
Enrollment in September 2018 and March 2019, the period of financial support is 5 months. Those with X1 and X2 visas in their passports will not be admitted. Chinese test score of HSK (Level 3) 210 with HSKK.
5. Four-week trainee
Enrollment in July or December 2018 with a 4-week funding period. Those with X1 and X2 visas in their passports will not be admitted.
5.1 Chinese Language + Chinese Family Experience
With HSK score,applicants must have a willingness to have a family experience. The Confucius Institute organizes groups of 10-15 students each.
5.2Confucius Institute special four weeks students
Applicants must have HSK score. The Confucius Institute will organize a group of 10-15 students each.
6. Those who have won the 2018 Confucius Institute Scholarship Certificates in various Chinese Bridge competitions will log on the website of Confucius Institute Scholarship and submit the application materials to the target receiving institutions with the scholarship certificates. Contents of Scholarship
The Confucius Institute Scholarship includes tuition, accommodation, living expenses (except for four-week trainees) and comprehensive medical insurance.
1.The university provides free dormitory for students, usually 2/3 rooms.
2.Living expenses are paid by the university on a monthly basis. The standard for undergraduates, one-year and one-semester trainees is 2500 RMB/month; for master students majoring in Chinese International Education, it is 3000 RMB/month.
(3) The comprehensive medical insurance fee is based on the relevant regulations of the Ministry of Education of the People's Republic of China on studying abroad in China, and is purchased by the University. It is RMB 160 yuan/person for four-week trainees, RMB 400 yuan/person for one-semester trainees, and RMB 800 yuan/year/person for students who study for more than one academic year.
Application Process
1. All applicants are requested to visit the Confucius Institute Scholarship website (cis.chinese.cn) after March 1, 2018 to register, fill in the Confucius Institute Scholarship Application Form and submit electronic scanned copies of relevant supporting materials:.
Supporting materials related to all applicants
☆ Scanned copy of passport photo page.
☆ Scanned copy of HSK and HSKK score report (valid for two years).
☆ Letter of recommendation from the head of the recommending organization.
Supporting documents related to academic students
☆Provide a certificate of the highest academic qualification (certificate of graduation expectation) and a transcript of school study.
☆ Master's degree in Chinese International Education must provide letters of recommendation from two supervisors with the title of associate professor or above. Those who provide an agreement to work in the proposed teaching organization after graduation are given priority for financial support.
☆ Working Chinese language teachers must attach a certificate of employment and a letter of recommendation from the organization where they work.
Applicants under the age of 18 must submit a document certifying the authorization signed by their guardian in China.
2. The recommending organization examines and recommends qualified students to our school.
3.The school will review the documents and organize an online interview, and pre-admit the students on the basis of merit.
4.Chinese Language Office of China centralizes the evaluation and selects the best students for financial support. The evaluation of the scholarships will be completed 2 months before enrollment and the results will be announced.
