In order to strengthen the friendly exchanges between China and foreign countries and attract outstanding foreign students to study in the university, Southwest University has established the "Southwest University Presidential Scholarship".

Contents of the grant
Ø Category I Scholarship recipients are exempted from registration fee and tuition fee (including laboratory fee and internship fee), and are provided with comprehensive medical insurance for international students coming to China and monthly living expenses (RMB 1,100/month for undergraduates, RMB 1,400/month for master's degree students and RMB 1,700/month for doctoral degree students);
Ø II scholarship recipients are exempted from paying registration fee, tuition fee (including laboratory fee and internship fee), and are provided with comprehensive medical insurance fee for international students coming to China.
Funding Period and Annual Review
Scholarship recipients can generally enjoy the scholarship for the corresponding years according to the study period of 4 academic years for full-time undergraduates, 2-3 academic years for master's degree students, 3 academic years for doctoral degree students and 1 academic year for advanced students. However, in order to give full play to the incentive effect of the Presidential Scholarship of Southwest University, according to the relevant provisions of the Annual Evaluation of the Presidential Scholarship of Southwest University, the university will conduct a comprehensive evaluation in May of each academic year for the scholarship students with a study period of one academic year or more, and decide whether or not to continue to allow them to enjoy the scholarships based on the results of the comprehensive evaluation.
Application Requirements
Ø Non-Chinese nationals who are physically and mentally healthy
Ø Educational and age requirements for applicants:
-Applicants for undergraduate bachelor's degree must have the equivalent of senior secondary school graduation and be no older than 30 years old;
-Applicants for Master's Degree should have a Bachelor's Degree and should not be more than 35 years of age;
-Applicants for doctoral degree must have a master's degree and be no older than 40 years old;
-Applicants who apply to the university for further study of their majors or specialize in Chinese language should be in their second year of study or have the equivalent of a bachelor's degree, and their age should not exceed 45 years old;

Application and Admission Procedures
Ø Method of application:
A. Traditional Application
1. Apply for Southwest University Presidential Scholarship Application Form and Foreigner's Physical Examination Record from the website http://gjxy.swu.edu.cn下载专区或者联系西南大学外国学生招生办公室获取;
2. Fill in the form of Record of Physical Examination for Foreigners and have a physical examination at a local public hospital. Applicants should strictly follow the items required in the form. Forms with missing items, without the person's photo attached or without a riding seal on the photo, or without the signature and seal of the physician and hospital are invalid. The examination results are valid for six months;
3. Prepare other required documents and then mail all application materials to the Office of Foreign Student Admissions, Southwest University;
B. Online Application
1. Visit the online admissions application website at http://issic.swu.edu.cn to complete user registration.
2. Download and fill in the form "Record of Physical Examination of Foreigners" and take a physical examination at a local public hospital. Applicants should strictly follow the items required in the form. Forms with missing items, without the person's photo attached or without a riding seal on the photo, or without the signature and seal of the physician and hospital are invalid. The examination results are valid for six months;
3. Log in to the online application system, fill in the application information as required and upload the required application materials;
4. After confirming the accuracy of the information and uploaded materials, click Submit;
Ø Acceptance by assessment:
1. Southwestern University will review the application materials and pass them will be posted on the website http://gjxy.swu.edu.cn上发布录取学生名单 and the applicants will be notified in person via email;
2. Scholarship recipients pay the scholarship application fee of RMB 500 yuan to Southwest University (relevant bank information is attached);
3. Southwest University will send the Letter of Acceptance and Visa Application Form (Form JW202) to the admitted students before the end of June every year.
Application Materials
1. Two copies of the Southwestern University Presidential Scholarship Application Form (please do not write by hand).
2. A copy of the certificate of highest education, diploma or degree. If the applicant is a current student or is already employed, he/she must submit a certificate of enrollment issued by the school he/she is attending or a certificate of employment issued by the employer. A notarized translation of the documents in Chinese or English must be attached to the documents in duplicate.
3. Transcripts: complete transcripts of the previous course of study; notarized translations in Chinese or English must be attached to the transcripts, in duplicate.
4. A study plan (for undergraduates) or research plan (for master's and doctoral students) of not less than 800 words.
5. Recommendation letters from two professors or associate professors in the country of residence in duplicate (signed by the applicant and accompanied by the workplace and contact information; this is only applicable to master's degree and doctoral degree students).
6. Documents proving language proficiency: a copy of HSK certificate (if any) for Chinese-taught majors; a copy of IELTS or TOEFL test score for English-taught majors (official language not including English).
7. Publicly published academic papers, patents or other research results (if any, please provide the originals or photocopies)
8. Two copies of "Record of Physical Examination of Foreigners" (please keep the original for your own use when applying for a visa)
9. Two passport photos (please write the applicant's name and the name of the program you are applying to study on the back of the photos)
10. Photocopy of passport (valid ordinary passport)
Remarks:
1. Students applying for the Music and Fine Arts programs are required to submit two copies of their own works using a CD-ROM;
2. Students applying for English-medium programs should complete all the above materials (including application forms, letters of recommendation, study plans, etc.) in English.
Application Deadline
Subject to the specific notice from the International College of Southwest University.
