Nanjing Municipal Government-South Polytechnic Joint Scholarship

1. Scholarship content and criteria

Nanjing University of Science and Technology (NUST) has set up the Nanjing Municipal Government-NUST Joint Scholarship Program since 2014, and 220 scholarships are provided in 2018 for encouraging and financing outstanding international students to come to NUST for degree and pre-Chinese studies. The scholarship categories are divided into:

1. Full Scholarships (40 for doctoral students, 40 for master's students and 50 for undergraduate students)

Tuition-free.

Free on-campus accommodation, usually double rooms; married full-scholarship graduate students with family members applying for off-campus accommodation will be entitled to an off-campus accommodation subsidy upon the approval of the university at the rate of RMB 1,500 yuan/month for doctoral students and RMB 750 yuan/month for master's students.

Comprehensive medical insurance is provided.

Pay living expenses. The standard is: 3,000 RMB/month for doctoral students, 2,000 RMB/month for master's students, and none for undergraduates.

2. Partial Scholarships (20 for master's students and 50 for undergraduates)

Tuition free.

Comprehensive medical insurance provided.

3. Scholarship for Pre-Chinese Language Students (20 students)

One-time reduction of tuition fee for the academic year by 5,000 RMB. Graduate student applicants applying for Chinese language instruction who fail to meet the HSK Chinese language proficiency required by their majors may add one year of pre-college Chinese language study at Nanjing University of Science and Technology (NUST). During the preparatory period, graduate applicants are only entitled to the Chinese Language Student Scholarship, i.e., a one-time tuition remission of 5,000 RMB, and only during the graduate program can they enjoy the content and standard of the corresponding scholarship funding.

2. Open Majors

Nanjing University of Science and Technology (NUST) enrolls international students in China, divided into Chinese-medium and English-medium majors and courses. 3. Eligibility

1) Applicants must be non-Chinese citizens, physically and mentally healthy, and friendly to China.

2) Academic qualifications and age requirements: applicants must have obtained certificates of the higher level of academic qualifications and degrees of the degree they are applying for. In principle, applicants should not be older than 40 years old for doctoral degree, 35 years old for master's degree, or 28 years old for bachelor's degree.

3) Excellent academic performance: the academic performance must be at least 80 marks on the percentage scale.

4) Language Requirements: For English-medium scholarships, IELTS score must be at least 6.5 for graduate students and 6.0 for undergraduate students; TOEFL score (120) must be at least 90 for graduate students and 80 for undergraduate students; for Chinese-medium scholarships, HSK score must be at least level 5.

5) Students who have already received other scholarships will not be accepted.

6. Documents required for application

Application materials to be mailed include the following paper materials

6) Completed version of "Application Form for Nanjing-SNIT Joint Scholarship for International Students". This form is automatically generated from the online application.

7) A copy of passport.

8) Notarized copy of the highest education certificate. If the applicant is a student, he/she must submit a certificate of enrollment from the school he/she is attending and the expected date of graduation. A notarized translation of the documents into Chinese or English must be attached to the documents in languages other than English or Chinese.

9) Academic transcripts. A notarized Chinese or English translation must be attached to both Chinese and English versions. If the applicant is a student already studying in mainland China, he/she must submit a certificate of enrollment and a certificate of consent to transfer issued by the school he/she is attending.

10) Proof of language scores: applicants teaching in English must provide a copy of IELTS transcript or TOEFL transcript; applicants teaching in Chinese must provide a copy of HSK certificate.

11) Study and research plan or self statement. No less than 800 words, written in Chinese or English, including personal study and work experience, motivation for studying in China, reasons for choosing specialties, academic research results, proposed research fields and research plans.

12) Letter of recommendation (in Chinese or English). Those who intend to study for master's and doctoral degrees must submit recommendation letters from two professors or associate professors of the graduating institution; those who intend to study for undergraduate degrees must submit two recommendation letters from high school teachers.

13) Published scholarly articles or academic achievements (for graduate students), if any.

14) Letter of acceptance from the supervisor. It is recommended that those who intend to pursue master's and doctoral degrees contact our supervising professors of the proposed research majors by themselves, and ask the supervisors to fill in the "Supervisor Acceptance Letter" NJUST Supervisor Acceptance Letter of Proposed Mentorship (Chinese/English).doc. 15) Copy of Foreigner Physical Examination Form. Click "Foreigner Physical Examination Form" to download and fill in in English. Applicants should strictly follow the items required in the Foreigner Physical Examination Form. The Foreigner Physical Examination Form is invalid if the items are missing, the applicant's photo is not affixed or the photo is not stamped with a seal, or there is no signature and seal of a physician or hospital. The examination results are valid for six months.
