Outline of the Chinese Government Excellence Scholarship Program for Study in China

I. Program Introduction

In order to cultivate global governance talents with broad international vision, excellent comprehensive quality, outstanding leadership ability and cross-cultural background, the China Scholarship Council (hereinafter referred to as "CSC") implements the Excellence Scholarship Program for Chinese Students Studying in China (ESPC).

Program Format

1.Enrollment scale: 200 students

2.Enrollment Category: Master's Degree

3.Language of instruction: English

4.Cultivation Mode and Funding Period

In principle, it is a one-year (12-month) master's degree program. Individual programs adopt the "1+1" mode, i.e., the students complete the full-time basic courses and research work in the Chinese institutions in the first academic year, and finish the preparation of the dissertation, and then return to their home countries in the second academic year to complete the dissertation in the light of their own work and come to China for the defense of the dissertation according to the requirements of the institutions, and the qualified students will be awarded the degree. Those who are qualified will be awarded the degree.

5.Amount of Sponsorship: Full Scholarship

Application Requirements

1.Non-nationality of the People's Republic of China, not older than 45 years old, physically and mentally healthy.

2.Bachelor degree or above, with three years or above working experience; those with study or working background in majors related to the project applied for are preferred.

3.Applicants must be one of the following four categories of personnel:

① Public officials of the government department of the host country at the rank of division (or corresponding rank) or above;

② Senior managers of institutions and enterprises and other units;

③Administrators and managers of universities and research institutes;

③Administrators of universities and research institutes; ④Persons with relevant experience in international organizations or internships.

4.The pre-admission notice issued by the international student recruitment and admission department of the applicant institution shall contain personal information, enrollment time, major information and other information necessary for registration in the university, and shall not contain the content of having been awarded or promised to be awarded the Chinese Government Scholarship.

Application Method

1.Online Application

Applicants shall log on the Management Information System for Chinese Government Scholarships for Studying in China (http://studyinchina.csc.edu.cn/#/login) before 23:59 Beijing time on March 31, 2026 to apply online and submit application materials to the China Scholarship Council.

Applicants should have received a pre-admission letter from one of the sub-programs listed in the program at the time of application. When applying online, applicants should choose the scholarship type: Type A, the accepting organization code: 1563, and the declared program: Chinese Government Scholarship Program for Scholarships for Studying in China.

2.Acceptance Method

The China Scholarship Council accepts individual applications directly, examines the materials submitted by the applicants and organizes expert evaluation.

V. Evaluation and Admission

1.The Scholarship Council of China conducts preliminary examination of the application materials.

2.The Scholarship Council organizes the evaluation by experts, and the final acceptance result will be determined after the evaluation by experts.

Students apply for visas to China

Admitted students go to the Chinese Embassy (Consulate) abroad to apply for the visa to study in China and get ready to study in China.

Admitted students arrive at the school to complete registration and change their residence permits.
