I. Scholarships for Outstanding New Students

Foreign undergraduate degree students, master degree students and Chinese language advanced students who are going to study in Zhejiang Institute of Science and Technology, applicants should be in good health.

Second, the excellent new student scholarship evaluation conditions

1、Excellent academic performance (applicants need to provide their highest degree certificate and transcripts);

2. The duration of study for students applying for further studies in Chinese language is one year or more;

3. Academic students applying for study in Chinese-medium majors are required to obtain a certificate of HSK Level 6 or above in the Chinese Proficiency Test;

4、Applicants applying for English-medium majors are required to provide the certificates of IELTS or TOEFL or GRE or PET, or they are required to take the freshmen's entrance English test organized by Zhejiang Institute of Science and Technology and get good grades.

Recipients of Outstanding Freshman Scholarship cannot apply for Outstanding Academic Student Scholarship, Outstanding Chinese Language Further Training Student Scholarship and Academic Diligence Award repeatedly during the period of Outstanding Freshman Scholarship, but they can apply for other scholarships in addition to them.

Levels and quotas of Outstanding New Student Scholarship

The Outstanding New Student Scholarship is divided into three levels:

The first prize is 100% of the tuition fee for one academic year;

The second prize is 70% of the tuition fee for one academic year;

50% of the tuition fee for one academic year for the third prize.

The following proportions are awarded to outstanding new students: 2%, 4% and 6% of the number of new students for the first, second and third scholarships.

Application Materials for Excellent Freshman Scholarship

1.Application Form of Zhejiang Institute of Science and Technology Scholarship for New Foreign Students in Chinese or English;

2.Notarized certificate of highest academic qualification. If the applicant is a student, he/she should submit the certificate of enrollment issued by the school he/she is studying. The non-Chinese or English version must be accompanied by a notarized translation of the corresponding Chinese or English version;

3.Notarized academic transcripts;

4.A letter of recommendation from the graduating institution, written in Chinese or English;

5.Health certificate (copy);

6.Certificate of Chinese Language Proficiency Test Level 6 or above (for applicants applying for Chinese-medium programs);

7.Certificate of IELTS 5.5 or above or TOEFL 80 or above or GRE 1400 or above or PET Level 3 or above, or certificate of excellent score in the English test for new students of Zhejiang Institute of Science and Technology (for applicants applying for majors taught in English).

V. Scholarship Application Procedures for Outstanding Freshmen

Applicants applying for Outstanding Freshman Scholarship for Autumn Admission should submit their application materials to the Admission Office of International Student Center on May 30 every year, and applicants applying for Outstanding Freshman Scholarship for Spring Admission should submit their application materials to the Admission Office of International Student Center before December 10 every year, and the application materials will not be accepted after the deadline.

International Student Center organizes the preliminary selection of Excellent New Student Scholarship, examines the application materials received, and pushes the materials of the students who pass the preliminary selection to the Scholarship Review Committee of Zhejiang Institute of Science and Technology for evaluation, and then makes the final list and public announcement. The International Student Center shall evaluate the academic performance, learning attitude and behavior of the foreign students who are awarded the freshman scholarship at the end of the first semester. Students who have failed courses in the first semester or have missed 20 hours of classes (including sick leave, personal leave and absenteeism) or have missed exams, cheated in exams or received warnings or more disciplinary actions are not eligible for the scholarship for the second semester. Students who pass the evaluation will continue to be eligible for the Freshman Scholarship for the second semester.
