1.Scholarship content and criteria
In order to attract and encourage outstanding foreign students to study master's and doctoral programs at NUIST, NUIST has set up scholarships for outstanding new students. The content of the scholarship is tuition fee exemption.
2.Open Majors
All master's and doctoral programs at NUIST are open for application. The duration of study for the Chinese-taught master's program is 3 years, and for the English-taught master's program is 2 years; the duration of study for the doctoral program is 3 years.
3.Applicant Qualifications
(1) Citizens holding foreign nationality, friendly to China and in good health.
(2) Abide by the laws and regulations of China, the rules and regulations of the university, perform well and meet the admission requirements of NUIST.
(3) Have a positive attitude to study and good grades.
(4) Applicants for master's degree should have a bachelor's degree, and their age is generally not more than 35 years old; applicants for doctoral degree should have a master's degree, and their age is generally not more than 40 years old.
(5) Applicants must not have received any other scholarships from the Chinese government at the same time.
4.Application Date
The deadline for submitting complete application materials is: June 15th.
5.Application Process / Pathway
Log on to the university's online application system for international students (http://nuist.17gz.org/member/login.do), register for an account, fill in and submit the application materials online. Please select "NUIST Outstanding New Student Scholarship" for the scholarship program.
6.Documents required for application
(1) Passport photo page.
(2) Passport size photo (within 6 months).
(3) Proof of graduation from the highest educational level. If the applicant is a student, he/she must submit a pre-graduation certificate issued by the school he/she is attending, and the certificate of graduation must be submitted after acceptance. The certificate must be accompanied by a notarized Chinese or English translation in a language other than English or Chinese.
(4) Transcript of the highest academic degree. A notarized Chinese or English translation of the transcript must be attached to both the English and Chinese versions.
(5) Recommendation letters from two professors or associate professors. The letters must be written in Chinese or English, signed by the referees, and accompanied by contact telephone numbers and emails.
(6) Applicants for doctoral degree must provide a letter of acceptance from the supervisor of the doctoral program of NUIST.
(7) Study or research plan in China. Written in Chinese or English, no less than 800 words.
(8) Published academic papers and academic achievements (please provide if any).
(9) Applicants for Chinese-medium programs are required to provide a score report of 180 points or above in HSK4.
(10) Applicants for English-medium programs must provide proof of English proficiency, with a TOEFL score of not less than 80 or an IELTS score of not less than 6 (native English speakers are not required to provide such proof).
(11)A copy of the Foreigner Physical Examination Form. Applicants should strictly follow the items required in the Foreigner Physical Examination Form. The Foreigner's Physical Examination Form is invalid if there are missing items, the applicant's photo is not affixed, or the photo is not stamped with a riding seal, or if there is no signature and stamp of a physician and hospital. The examination results are valid for six months.
(12) Other supporting documents (please provide them if available, such as award certificates, training certificates, etc.).
7.Admission and Notification
(1) NJIT will review the application materials and admit those who meet the requirements. Scholarship recipients will be notified of the payment of the application fee by e-mail.

(2) The university will deliver and mail the Letter of Acceptance, Application for Visa to China for Foreign Students (Form JW202) and other supporting materials to the scholarship recipients by July 15th.
(3) Scholarship recipients are not allowed to change the study majors and study period as stated in the Admission Notice after coming to China. If they need to extend their study period, they will have to pay the fees at the standard rate for self-financed students during the extended study period.
(4) Scholarship recipients are required to participate in the annual evaluation in accordance with the Measures for Annual Evaluation of Government Scholarships of NUIST.
(5) Scholarship status will not be retained for those who are unable to come to China for study according to the admission deadline.
