Scholarship Details
I. Scholarship content and criteria:
Category A Scholarship: exemption of tuition, accommodation and comprehensive medical insurance fees, and payment of a certain amount of monthly living expenses.
Category B Scholarship: free of tuition, comprehensive medical insurance fee.
Category C Scholarship: 50% exemption from tuition fees and comprehensive medical insurance premiums.
II. Open major:
All majors are eligible to apply.
III.Application Related:
(i) Eligibility to apply
Ø Physically fit foreign nationals
Ø If applying for the undergraduate program, you must have graduated from high school and be under 35 years old.
Ø If applying for the graduate program, you must have graduated from a university and be under 40 years old.
Ø For doctoral programs, you must have a graduate degree and be under 45 years of age.
(ii) Application Deadline : June 30, 2018
(iii) Steps to apply
1.Apply online by filling up the application form at admissions.shou.edu.cn.
2.Pay the application fee of 400 RMB.
3.将所有申请材料递交至admissions@shou.edu.cn.
(iv) Application materials
1、Passport copy
-You need to submit a clear copy of your valid passport, which should contain your name, photo, date of birth, place of birth, date of issue and expiration date.
-If the applicant is still residing abroad, he/she needs to submit the visa page.
2、Degree certificates and transcripts
If applying for a bachelor's degree, please provide: high school diploma and transcripts of all grades.
If applying for a Master's Degree, please provide: Bachelor's Degree Certificate and transcripts of all grades.
If applying for a doctoral degree, please provide: Bachelor's and Master's degree certificates and transcripts of all grades.
-Copy of the original certificate and the school's official seal and/or the principal's signature. If the original is not in Chinese or English, it must be translated and notarized.
-For applicants who have not yet graduated and have not received their diploma, copies of all transcripts may be provided with the application. However, this must be submitted immediately upon receipt of the official diploma and transcripts.
3. Language Proficiency Certificate
If the application is for a program taught in Chinese, please provide a certificate of Chinese language proficiency obtained within two years:
Undergraduate applicants: Score higher than 180 on Level 4 of the Chinese Proficiency Test.
Graduate applicants: Hanyu Shuiping Kaoshi Level 5 score above 180.
If you are applying for an English-taught program, please provide a certificate of IELTS 6 or TOEFL IBT 80 or above obtained within two years.
l The University may also require students to submit other English proficiency certificates as supplementary documents.
Native English speakers are not required to provide the above documents.
4. Personal Statement
Applicants are required to write a personal statement on A4 paper in both English and Chinese. The statement should explain the reasons for applying, including interest in and enthusiasm for the chosen field of study, the relevance of previous study or practice to the chosen field of study, and a description of the following relevant talents, experience or achievements acquired through previous education, work experience and other activities.
Students applying for a master's or doctoral degree are also required to provide the following documents;
5. Curriculum Vitae
Resume should contain personal information, educational background, work or internship experience, current achievements, etc., both in English and Chinese.
6、Research Program.
The research plan should include research results achieved so far (e.g., title and abstract of thesis or dissertation), reasons for choosing to study in Shanghai Ocean University, learning objectives, future research and career plans, etc., both in English and Chinese.
7、Two letters of recommendation
Submit two letters of recommendation from two professors or associate professors, or supervisors, both in English and Chinese.
