Fuzhou University Outstanding Foreign Students Scholarship
Scholarship Details
In order to encourage more outstanding foreign students to come to study in FUZHOU, to stimulate the foreign students to study diligently and study hard, to further expand the enrollment scale of foreign students in FUZHOU, and to improve the quality of overseas education and training, FUZHOU University Scholarship for Outstanding Foreign Students (FUZS) is hereby established. Excellent Foreign Students Scholarship (FZS) is a special fund provided by the university for foreign students studying in FUZHOU UNIVERSITY, which is calculated in RMB, and can be used for the expenses of registration fee, tuition fee, accommodation fee, insurance fee and living allowance. Details are as follows:
I. Scholarship content and standard
(I) Comprehensive Scholarship for Studying in China: It mainly enrolls foreign students who meet the national unified entrance requirements and have excellent character and academic performance as well as rewards foreign students who are already studying in schools and have outstanding overall performance, including doctoral students, master's students, undergraduates, and advanced training students. The funding period is one year. In principle, the period of financial support shall not exceed the maximum period of study for each study category.
(ii) Short-term Training Student Award: mainly for foreign students who come to FZU for study and training for not more than 6 months according to the inter-university agreement or related exchange agreement. Such students can only apply for the award if they are enrolled in a foreign university that has signed an inter-university exchange agreement with Fuzhou University.
(Scholarship Criteria: Scholarship funding criteria are set according to the type of program and the level of academic qualifications applied for.
1.Comprehensive Scholarship for Studying in China
(1) RMB 50,000 per year per doctoral student (including a monthly living allowance of RMB 1,200)
(2) Master's degree students: RMB 40,000 per year per student (including monthly living allowance of RMB 1,000)
(3) RMB 30,000 per undergraduate student per year (including a monthly living allowance of RMB 800)
2.Award for short-term advanced students (less than 6 months)
Students are responsible for their own tuition, accommodation and insurance, and the university provides a monthly living allowance. Ordinary advanced students are entitled to RMB 1,000 per month per person with reference to the standard for master's degree students, and advanced advanced students are entitled to RMB 1,200 per month per person with reference to the standard for doctoral degree students.
Ordinary advanced students refer to foreign non-degree students who have obtained bachelor's degree or above or are in the second year of university or above; advanced advanced students refer to foreign non-degree students who have obtained master's degree or above or are in the second year of master's degree or above.
II. Open Majors
All majors are open for application. In principle, the majors applied for should be maintained with the previous degree, and cross-major applications are generally not accepted. Applicants for undergraduate, master's and doctoral programs should have the Chinese Proficiency Test Certificate Level 5 (HSK), and those who have obtained HSK Level 6 or above are preferred. No Chinese language foundation or certificate is required for language advancement students. Full English-taught majors are not subject to the Chinese language proficiency certificate, but they should complete the Chinese language and Chinese culture courses stipulated in the training program.
III. Qualifications of Applicants
1. Basic Requirements:
(1) Applicants must be eligible for recognition as foreign students, love China and be in good health;
(2) Willing to abide by the laws and regulations of the Chinese government and the school discipline and rules of Fuzhou University;
(3) Academic students shall study in school for not less than 9 months in each academic year;
(4) Good basic academic performance and strong professional potential;
(5) Priority shall be given to those who have outstanding performance in Chinese and foreign arts, sports, cultural exchanges as well as public welfare activities, and have received commendations, or have outstanding scientific research achievements that have been recognized by the academic community;
(6) Recommended by the relevant departments and bureaus of Fujian Province, as well as foreign friendly provinces and states and international friendly organizations are preferred.
2. Academic qualifications and age requirements:
(1) Applicants for undergraduate programs must have a high school diploma or above and be no older than 30 years old in principle;
(2) Applicants for master's degree programs must have a university degree or higher and be no older than 35 years old in principle;
(3) Applicants for doctoral studies must have a master's degree or higher and be no older than 40 years old in principle;
(4) Applicants for general advanced training or advanced training shall meet the requirements for the corresponding degree and be no older than 50 years old in principle.
3. Any of the following cases shall not be eligible for selection or termination of the Outstanding Foreign Students Scholarship Funding of Fuzhou University:
(1) Those who have been criminally detained, punished by public security or administratively sanctioned for violating Chinese laws and regulations or the school discipline and rules of Fuzhou University;
(2) Those who are late, leave early, absent from class or seriously violate the school rules and regulations without any reasons;
(3) Failing courses in the course assessment stipulated in the teaching plan;
(4) The instructor determines that the student has not achieved the learning objectives or has not completed the scientific research tasks, and the Academic Committee of the College determines that the situation is true;
(5) Any other behaviors or activities that are not in line with the spirit of scholarship recognition.
Applicants can apply for the Chinese Government Scholarship, Fujian Provincial Government Scholarship and Fuzhou University Outstanding Foreign Students Scholarship at the same time, but shall not repeat the cumulative entitlement of the various scholarships. If the applicant is awarded the Chinese Government Scholarship, the eligibility for Fujian Provincial Government Scholarship and Fuzhou University Scholarship will be automatically canceled, and the applicant will no longer be entitled to the scholarship treatment.

March 1 to May 15 every year

VI. Required materials for application
(1) Fuzhou University Scholarship Application Form;
(2) Notarized certificate of highest education and transcripts. If the applicant is a student, he/she must submit a certificate of enrollment or a pre-graduation certificate issued by the school he/she is attending. A notarized translation of the application form into Chinese or English must be attached to the application form;
(3) Those who have been studying in China for more than 6 months are required to provide the "Record of Physical Examination of Foreigners" (uniformly printed by the Chinese Health and Quarantine Department) with a stamped seal;
(4) Those who are studying for a degree or applying for training should provide a study plan (not less than 400 words) or a training plan (not less than 800 words);
(5) Applicants for doctoral or master's degree shall provide recommendation letters from two associate professors or above;
(6) Applicants who are under 18 years old should provide relevant legal documents from their guardians in China;
(7) Certificate of Chinese language proficiency.
